History Of Howard Stern Part II

A year in the making,  the History Of Howard Stern Part II did not disappoint. Spanning two weeks and covering everything from the end of the WNBC days to the FCC leveraging fines. The time frame was 1985-1992. Legendary bits featuring the brilliant Billy West, the legendary physical altercation with Elaine Boosler’s manager, Richard Simmons, Pat Cooper, the Zookeeper, Channel 9 (WWOR), US Open Sores, Neglige and Underpants Party and many more topics were examined and new interviews with the people involved were played. One of the highlights of the special, even for a non-fan, is George Carlin’s interview. They got him right before his death and asked him what he thought about the show.

The only coverage that was lackluster was the addressing of Allison, Howard’s now ex-wife. She played a major role on the show, and apparently due to legal issues, she could not be mentioned. (Her name barely even made it out, only being uttered once or twice the entire special).

Overall it was terrific, I hope we see more great programming in the future from the tapes team. I still don’t see why they could not have worked on Master Tape Theater simultaneously though.
