Legends of Laughter and the Howard TV Best of ’07 Preview

Ok, as for the Legends of Laughter special, I only listened to the first day. It wasn’t that it was bad, I actually enjoyed it. The main problem was that it was too long. During most of the year, I believe less is more. The Master Tape Theaters are a great length, the show isn’t as long as it used to be, but that’s fine. In the summer, when everyone is taking a break and easing up on work, make your specials 18 hours for all I care, but in my opinion 8 hours is MUCH too long for a winter special. This is once again poor planning and editing on behalf of the staff at Howard 100. The last week of shows also came with one other infuriating nuance from the old shows – why the hell did they play fart sounds over old sponsors? I don’t even think Nutrisystem is still in existance. Suppose someone was given a Sirius radio for a birthday. They tune into Howard Stern to see what all the fuss is about, and they think the guy is so immature he plays farting over commercials. It doesn’t make anyone laugh, it just makes everyone angry. I know you’re hurting for money, Sirius, but trust me, there is no way in hell Snapple will pay you for replaying a tape of a live commercial from 1989. Just play them in uncensored form!

As far as the Howard TV – Best of 2007 Special, it was worth the penny I paid for it, but I wouldn’t have paid more. The format of tiny clips didn’t sit well with me. Howard TV should have just played the whole sybian ride, the whole interview, and the whole fight. All you need is the best clip from each. Play it in it’s entirety and end with the Beth song done by Shaw/Blades. That, would be worth a dollar!

All in all, the actual show is getting better, but the specials are getting worse. This week’s Master Tape Theater fiasco was pathetic, but the episode was terrific. I hope tomorrow we will hear an energetic crew, ready to talk about all the great stuff that happened while they were away, however I know the first hour will be about something stupid, as it always is coming back from a vacation. Let’s hope for the best.
